The Military order of the Purple Heart Department of Connecticut spent Easter Saturday afternoon at West Haven VA Hospital visiting the patients.It was the thought of Purple Heart wives who engineered the program and they assembled wearing Easter theme costumes. (Chickens and Rabbits). The gals were hot and uncomfortable under those headpieces etc. but they progressed and the MOPH covered a lot of wards. The women had special gifts for the patients. The Department of Connecticut Military Order of the Purple Heart also presented over $1,500 worth of $5.00 PX Gift cards from the Canteen Service to the patients. Each patient receiver 2 canteen books ($10.00). The patients were happy to see the MOPH group. The MOPH thanks to Mike Rose and the escort, Valerie Wonsang, who did an excellent job getting us around on the visit. Especially important to the MOPH group are our disabled and they were happy to show the patients that they care.
