Operation Dustoff

Photo taken at a recent "Operation Dustoff" trip to a Bluefish professional baseball game in Bridgeport Connecticut.
Operation Dustoff is an older veterans assistance project started by Chapter #13 which consist of chapter members organizing field trips for other chapter members and other veterans who are "shut-ins' in their homes or nursing homes or who are no longer able to drive. September 6th was the first such trip. It was a trip (rescheduled from a earlier game postphoned by rain) to watch a Bluefish baseball game in Harbor Yard Stadium in Bridgeport.
Chapter 13 will pay for all expenses and provide transportation to and from these "Project Dustoff" trips. The number of veterans who are invited to attand these trips are limited by the number of volunteers we have who will help with logistics of the trips.
Presently we do not have the capability of tranporting wheelchair patients, but if there is enough interenst and we get enough volunteers, we will attempt to borrow the department headquarters van which has a wheelchair lift.
Some of the trip suggestions thus far have been: Bluefish Baseball Game, Flat Water (no white water, just a leisurely ride) Canoe Trip, Afternoon Trip to a Park, and A Cook-out at a Park or Members Home.
Additional information and a form to sign up as either a volunteer or as a participant will be posted on this web site soon.
